Christopher Jackson-Green

Christopher Jackson-Green is a violinist and teacher newly based in Chicago IL. Currently a second year Masters of Music candidate in violin performance at Chicago College of Performing Arts, he is in the studio class of David Taylor (assistant concertmaster of Chicago Symphony Orchestra). Originally from Orange County CA, he has had many experiences as an orchestral musician and private teacher.

Mr. Jackson-Green graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance and a minor in Chinese Studies, and was a recipient of the Erwin Johnson Music Scholarship. During his undergraduate studies, he was in the studio classes of William Fitzpatrick and Chloe Tardif. Other mentors include Jason Uyeyama, Christine Frank, Robert Becker, Yoshika Masuda, and Minghuan Xu. Mr. Jackson-Green served as a sublist violinist for American Youth Symphony from 2019-2023.

As a teacher, Mr. Jackson-Green has taught students from beginning through pre-college levels as well as experience teaching music theory, music history, and ear training (aural skills). Students in his studio class are passing auditions for school district honor orchestras and prestigious local youth orchestras, received the highest honors for Royal Conservatory of Music Examinations, and are prizewinners of the Satori String Contest. He has recently been appointed as Violin/Viola Teaching Artist for The People's Music School in Chicago IL. He has served as a violin coach for Portola High School in Irvine CA. Mr. Jackson-Green utilizes the Suzuki Method as a basis for teaching beginning through advanced levels with added inspiration from his undergraduate violin professor William Fitzpatrick.

Mr. Jackson-Green currently plays on a 1651 Mathias Albani violin. He is highly proficient in Mandarin Chinese, including speaking, reading, and writing.

I am currently accepting students who live in Chicago IL, and who are willing to have their lessons in their own home. I have experience teaching beginning, intermediate, advanced, and pre-college levels. I also have experience teaching music theory, music history, and ear training (aural skills). Former students of mine have passed auditions for school district honor orchestras and prestigious local youth orchestras, as well as received the highest honors for Royal Conservatory of Music Examinations. Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Examinations:

Students in my studio class are encouraged to take RCM exams, but are not required.

Lesson rate:

Payment cycles are every 10 lessons ($850.00 for 10 lessons; 1 hour per lesson). Payments must be made at least 24 hours prior to the first of the 10 lessons. For example, if the first of the 10 lessons start on September 1st, payment must be made at least 24 hours prior to that date. Payments can be made through Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, cash or check.
Trial lessons are offered to new students who wish to have a lesson with me before committing to a 10-lessons cycle. The rate for the trial lesson is $85 for 1 hour.

Overview of Pre-College Curriculum:

Students who wish to study with me at the pre-college level must do a trial lesson. During the trial lesson, an audition will take place to ensure that the student meets the standards of the pre-college level, followed by an actual lesson. Students at the pre-college level should have learned past Suzuki Violin Book 5 or equivalent. Audition requirements are 2 contrasting solo works and must demonstrate any 3 octaves scales/arpeggios on the spot.
Students studying with me at the pre-college level will get opportunities to perform recitals, participate in masterclasses, participate in competitions, prepare for youth orchestra auditions, prepare for summer festival programs, prepare for college conservatory auditions, and more!
